Employment Status Indicator – HMRC

This is a handy tool to use if you’re thinking of engaging the services of a self employed contractor. You can use it to confirm whether they are employed or self-employed for tax, National Insurance contributions or VAT purposes. Make sure to read all the rules and be sure that this tool is right for you and your circumstances.

Right to Work Checker – gov.uk

You can use this tool to find out whether a potential employee has the right to work in the UK legally and also to confirm what documents you need to be checking. Really useful!


 Holiday Entitlement Info – gov.uk

Government advice on entitlement, taking leave, accruing leave and disputes all in one place!

Holiday Entitlement Calculator – gov.uk

This will allow you to calculate the statutory holiday entitlement for your employees, it’s particularly useful for working out the entitlement for new starters who join part way through the year. – this is for statutory calculations only, so employees may be entitled to more if your allowance is higher.


Tools for Pensions Auto Enrolment – The Pensions Regulator 

The Pensions Regulator has a great set of tools to help you work out your staging date, duties as an employer, how to auto enrol your employees and what your minimum contributions must be.


 Company Car and Fuel Benefit Calculator – HMRC 

Helps you calculate the ‘benefit in kind’ value of your company car and also the fuel if applicable. Nifty! (did we just say nifty? eurrrgh)


 Guide to Statutory Sick Pay – gov.uk 

Here you can find the core information about Statutory Sick Pay. (SSP) They’ve got SSP rates, access to an SSP1 form and information about eligibility as well as fit notes.
